Race Preview

The legendary Aurora Thunderjet was first introduced to the public in 1963. It is the most famous and prolific slot car of all time. The 44th Anniversary 500 pays tribute to this remarkable little car which has managed to stand the test of time like no other in the industry.

The 2007 edition of the race promises to be a showdown between defending champion Gary Weber, former champ Dave Hendrickson and Dave's two sons Ryan and Kevin. Dave's car has been fast in testing, but inconsistent. Even so he looks to be the early favorite. The field will be full of potential winners, however. This includes George Mest and Scott Udave. The two Western New Yorkers have a ton of experience in this class and can never be counted out. From Central NY Larry Weaver, who nearly pulled off the victory in the 40th Anniversary race with a thrilling come-from-behind drive, John Durbin and Mark Webster all have a vast amount of time with these cars as well and are certain to be in contention.
