RACE PREVIEW

For the first time in the event's history the Snowball 500 will be run on a track other than the Buck Track Bansai. The new Bowman Grand Champion road course was so popular with the competitors at the Turkey 250 that the decision was made to switch from the Buck for the Snowball. Along with the switch of tracks, will be a switch of procedure. In order to finish the race within a reasonable amount of time on the longer track, the final will be for 500 HO scale miles, as opposed to the 500 laps done on the Bansai.

Dave Hendrickson enters the Snowball as the favorite. Hendrickson enjoyed a dominant performance in the final of the Turkey 250 in November and recently reset the SS T-Jet lap record on the Grand Champion. Hendrickson has finished in 2nd place in the last three Snowball 500s and is keen to move to the top step of the podium.

His biggest challenge will most likely come from Frank Spena Jr. and Ryan Hendrickson. Spena, the 6-time and defending Snowball champ, is making a temporary return to T-Jet racing to try to win one on the Grand Champion. He managed to take the pole at the Turkey 250, but didn't have the car to run with Hendrickson in the final. That loss was his first major loss in this type of racing since finishing 2nd at the World Championships in October of 2003, and his first PRR/SCCOTTT Majors loss since taking 3rd at the Race Rundown 100 in September of 2001. He is sure to be snapping at Hendrickson's heels the whole way.

Ryan Hendrickson is the defending pole winner at the Snowball 500. He nearly took pole again at the Turkey 250 and did sit on the pole at this year's UFHORA National championships. Mechanical problems kept him out of the final at the Turkey just when it looked like he might have had the best car, but he is sure to be ready for the big one and could surpass Spena to be the strongest challenger to his Dad...

These three promise to put on what could be the most interesting Major in SCCOTTT/PRR history. All three were strong at the UFHORA National championships this summer, with Spena edging out Dave and Ryan, and look to carry their tremendous rivalry into the Snowball. There could be other challengers, however...The legendary Henry Harnish has not yet committed to entering the Snowball 500, but could be attending. Harnish, 1962 Ford Aurora National Champion, returned to slot car racing just a few years ago and has been steadily improving ever since. The New Jersey racer's cars are known for having big power and that could be a major factor on the Grand Champion. Harnish finished 10th in last year's Snowball. Gary Weber has been steadily improving his T-Jet program and could surprise. George Mest has made it to the final in a SCCOTTT Major two times in a row - both times making it from the Last Chance Qualifier. If he finds a little more performance, he will be right in the hunt. Virginia Beach's Tom Bowman, the legendary creator of the magnetic slot car, has made it to the last three Snowball 500s with a best finish of 6th. Bodies made by Bowman's company, BRP have won the last four Snowball 500s and Bowman himself can never be counted out.

Are you thinking about coming to the Snow Ball?
You could even win back some of your prizes back.

Wizzard HO BBS Rules:
Prelude to the Rules:

I guess when you set down a set of rules, you really need to define the reason for thier existence. This BB is more than a mere property to me. It is a place to communicate with friends as well as customers, and teach. For me, its kind of like home. I would then ask you guys to treat it like you would my home, and like you would want me to treat your home. If we have a problem with a guest, I'll deal with it. If I don't want you in my home, rest assured, I don't want you here either. If you wander over to the neighbors and start bad mouthing me, or anything associated with me, don't expect a warm welcome if you come knocking on the door. If you get booted, we will do everything we can to make it so that you can't even view the BB. I'd rather not spend my time and knowledge teaching somebody who does not appreciate it. From what I can gather, there are 9 former or current national champions presently registered to the BB. Given the vastness of knowledge available, this BB is unparalleled anywhere. I do hope you all enjoy and respect this BB.
